The British prime minister Boris Johnson has been taken to hospital, 10 days after testing positive for Covid-19. His office says he is still suffering symptoms, including a high temperature. He will remain in Hospital overnight. Donald Trump has sent his best wishes, saying he was sure Mr.Johnson would be fine.

Queen Elizabeth has given a televised address, in which she urged the people of Britain and the commonwealth to remain resolute in the face of the pandemic. Speaking from Windsor Castle, she said countries worldwide would join in a common effort against the disease.

The authorities in Ecuador have begun using car-broad coffins to bury the victims of Covid-19 in the biggest city Quito. A surge in the number of death has led to shortage of additional caskets. In recent days, many bodies have been abandoned on the streets because of the collapse of local government services.
