1. why不能引导非限制性定语从句。
This is the reason why he came late.
这就是他来晚的原因。
2. 非限制性定语从句一般不用that引导，指人用who或whom，指物用which。
His new house , which has four rooms, is very clean.
他的新房子很干净，有四个房间。
We're listening to our English teacher , who is thirty.
我们正在听英语老师讲课，他三十岁了。
3. 先行词指人，在从句中作主语用who引导从句；在从句中作宾语用whom引导从句，而且whom不能省略。
The driver , who was very young, had only just got his licence.
那个司机刚刚拿到驾照，他还很年轻。
Yesterday I happened to see John , whom I hadn't met for twenty years.
昨天我碰巧遇见约翰了，我20年没有见到他了。
4. 先行词指人或物并在从句中作定语时，用whose引导从句。
The boy over there is John, whose father works in New York.
那边那个男孩就是约翰，他父亲在纽约工作。
The first building is our teaching building , whose top is round.
第一幢楼是我们的教学楼，顶部是圆的。
5. 先行词指物并在从句中作主语或宾语时，用which引导从句，而且which不能省略。
I bought an i-Phone 5 yesterday, which cost me much money.
昨天我买了一部i-Phone 5，花了我不少钱。
Last week he found a wallet on the way to school, which he handed in to the teacher afterwards.
上周上学路上他捡了一个钱包，后来上交了老师。
6. 先行词在从句中作地点状语用where引导从句。
The day before yesterday we visited Lu Xun museum, where we stayed for two hours.
前天我们参观了鲁迅博物馆，我们在那里逗留了两小时。
7. 先行词在从句中作时间状语用when引导从句。
October 1 is our National Day , when we always enjoy a holiday.
十月一日是国庆日，这一天我们总是享受假日。
8. 表示人名或地名的专有名词后经常跟有非限制性定语从句。
Tom , who is our monitor , is always ready to help others.
汤姆，我们的班长，总是乐于助人。
Beijing ， which is the capital of China , lies in the north of China.
北京，中国的首都，位于中国的北部。
