1. get 〔have〕 one's feet on the ground **获得稳固地位;重新稳住

解 习语;词义溯源:使立足于[地面(ground)];参照keep one's feet on the ground“维持稳固地位”

例 Before you ask him to take on such a big responsibility, don't you think you'd better let him get his feet on the ground first? He's barely been here a week. Give him some time.

2. get one's feet wet **着手做,初次尝试

解 〈口〉习语;词义溯源:使得脚成为[湿的、潮的(wet)]状态;可以联想一下脚刚伸入水中被浸湿的情形

例 Soldiers were being sent to the front lines of the war without even a chance to get their feet wet. Some of the older, more experienced guys tried to teach them the art of survival as quickly as possible, but for most of them two weeks was the longest they'd survive.

5. get one's hands dirty / dirty one's hands / soil one's hands **弄脏手;被牵连进违法事件;做出有失体面的事情

解 习语;词义溯源:使得手变成[脏的(dirty)]状态
