英语早间课堂:跟老外聊春节 贴窗花（二）
1. be used to 习惯于
这是个形容词性短语，短语中的to是介词，后面接名词或者代词。如果要时候习惯于做某事的话，遇到的是动词，就要使用动词的动名词形式，即：be used to doing。
Eg. He is used to eating out all the time. 他已经习惯在外面吃饭了。You'll get used to the weather.你会习惯这天气的。(be used to 和get used to比较)
2. on + 修饰词+occasion
当occasion要表达“在……情况，场合下”的意思时，一定是跟介词on搭配。修饰词不同，就有不同的意思。总的来说，在occasion前面的修饰词有指示代词，数词和形容词。
(1)on this/that occasion 此时(彼时)
Eg. On that occasion he looked a perfect fool. 在这个场合，他看起来就像一个大傻瓜。I was not at home on that occasion. 那时我正好不在家。
(2)on the present/last occasion 在这次(上次)
Eg. On the last occasion of the election, he was hard-pressed to ensure that a supportive government emerged. 在上一次选举中，他对操纵政府已经感到力不从心。
注解：hard-pressed ['hɑ:d'prest] adj. 经济拮据的, 被催逼的, 经历大困难的ensure [inˈʃuə] vt.保证，担保，确保 supportive [sə'pɔ:tiv] adj.支持的;拥护的emerge [i'mə:dʒ] 出现;显现 ensure sth sth 确保某物是某物
Eg. On the present occasion he had a good deal of curiosity to the event of an evening which had raised such splendid expectations. 这次他极想知道大家朝思暮想的这一个盛会，经过情形究竟如何。
注解：curiosity [ˌkjuəri'ɔsiti] n.好奇心 curiosity to sth 对......的好奇心
expectations [ˌekspek'teiʃən] [ pl.]前程，成功的前景 a good deal of 很多，大量的(它只修饰不可数名词)
(3)on several occasions几次
Eg . On several occasions he strolled home with her. 有几次他陪她走回家。
注解：stroll [strəul] n.散步，闲逛 stroll to somewhere with sb 和某人散步到某处
Eg .Of late he had pleaded office duty on several occasions when his wife asked for his company to any evening entertainment. 但是近来他太太要他晚上陪她出去玩时，他好几次推托说事情忙，脱不开身。
注解：plead [pli:d] 提出......为借口(理由)entertainment [ˌentə'teinmənt] 消遣，娱乐 company ['kʌmpəni] 陪伴 office duty 办公室工作asked for one's company to sth 叫某人陪自己去做某事 evening entertainment 晚间娱乐，晚间消遣 of late 近来，最近 (Eg. The days have been getting warmer of late. 近来天变得热了。)
(4)on occasion 偶尔, 有时
Eg . I meet her on occasion at the club or at the theatre. 我有时在俱乐部或剧院里遇到她。Despite their intelligence, cleaver men can still be tricked on occasion. 聪明的人也有被戏弄的时候。
3. such as 例如，诸如
Eg. In this paragraph there are many nouns, such as boy, girl, and book.这一段里面有很多名词，例如男孩、女孩和书本。It's more useful to learn modern languages, such as English and German, than Latin.学习英语和德语等现代语言比学习拉丁语更为有用。
说完了生词和短语，我们就要来看句法，无法不成章。您要把上文的意思清楚的跟老外说，我还得要说2个语法现象。
1. 我们刚才说到了mention这个词，那么在文中要使用过去分词修饰不定代词one。文中为：the most important one mentioned提及到的最重要的一种窗花。因为mention与one存在被动关系，所以要用过去分词。
2. 用customary这个词在句子中在表述“习惯上”“惯例上”做某事，要用上形式主语it和动词不定式做真实主语，即：It is customary to do sth. 例句在我们的单词中已经出现了，在此就不讲了。
