The best way to teach— whether as an educator, employer, or parent— is to praise positive actions and ignore negative ones.

Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the claim. In developing and supporting your position, be sure to address the most compelling reasons and/or examples that could be used to challenge your position.

五问：

（1）教育的方式方法有很多，在没有对比各种方式方法之前，我们能否轻易判断某一种方法是最好的（即便它的确是很好的方法之一）？

（2）你认为教育者、老板和家长这三种身份有何不同？这些身份之间的差异是否会导致他们的教育方法不一致？例如：教育者与学生之间主要是传授知识与接受知识的关系，老板与员工之间更多的是利益关系，家长与孩子之间主要是引导关系，这可能会使得他们对待教育的态度不一样。另外，对于不同对象的不同阶段，应当采取的教育方法都是一致的吗？

（3）表扬优点有何好处？有何坏处？例如：可以激发信心，但也可能滋生骄傲情绪。

（4）关注缺点有什么好处？有什么坏处？例如：可以使人们保持警醒、不断改进自己的缺点，但也可能导致人们自信心丧失、感到气馁。

（5）你认为，如何处理表扬与批评之间的关系才是更好的教育？不同角色、对不同对象、针对不同事情进行教育，是按统一标准还是应该有区别地对待？

翻译练习：

一方面，没有可靠的证据显示，指出学生的错误行为会伤害他们的自信心；另一方面，忽视他们的恶意行为与不表扬他们的积极行为相比，会给他们带来更大的伤害。
