1　be used as 表示“被用作……”，指主语被用作什么。

English is used as the second language in this country. 在这个国家，英语是被当作第二语言使用的。

This bed is used as a desk. 这张床被用作桌子。

2　be used for 表示“被用来干某事”，后常跟动名词。

Pens are used for writing. 钢笔是用来写字的。

Knives are used for cutting things. 小刀是用来切东西的。

This machine is used for making bread. 这台机器是用来做面包的。

What's it used for ? 这东西是干什么用的？

It is used for making paper. （正） 它是被用来造纸的 。

It is used as making paper. （误）

3　be used to sth. 表示“习惯于某事”，be used to doing sth. 表示“习惯于做某事”，这里的be 是连系动词，可用不同的形式，表示过去、现在或将来，used是形容词，to是介词，后面跟名词、代词或动名词，但不可跟动词原形。

He is used to hard work. 他习惯于艰苦的生活。

She has been used to the weather here. 她已习惯于这里的天气了。

You will be used to the city life. 你会习惯城市生活的。

He was not used to getting up early. 他不习惯早起。

I am used to walking to the office. 我习惯步行去办公室。
