一次学校旅行
学校旅行的日子定在六月二十日。校长告诉我们，每个人要花六美元。“今年，”他
说，“我们将乘火车去。这与去年不同。” 我们九点在学校集合，九点半我们上了火车。这是个很好的安排。每个车厢可以容纳两个班。在常规列车上，加挂了三节车厢，这样其他的乘客也有足够的空间。因为我们每个班大约有三十人，所以有足够的地方。
我们十二点到达目的地，每个班和他们的老师一起去吃午饭。然后导游来带我们去游览西点军校，最后在小河边停下来，我们在那儿吃点心。
到六点钟，我们又登上了火车。我们根本没用上我们每个人都带的雨衣。
63 A School Outing
The date for school outing was set for June 20th. The principal told us it would cost six dollars each. "This year,"he said, "We will go by train. This is a change from last year.?
We assembled at the school at 9 o'lock, and by 9:30 we were aboard the train. It was a good arrangement. Each car held two classes. Three cars were added to the regular train so that there would be enough room for other passengers. As our classes were only about thirty each, there was plenty of room.
We arrived at our destination by twelve, and each class went with its teacher to lunch. Then the guides came and took us for a tour of West Point and finally we stopped at a small river where we had snacks.
We were on the train again by six o'lock. We never needed the raincoats everyone was carrying.
