Mike is in Vienna with his girlfriend Daisy.

M: Are you having a good time, Daisy?

D: Are you kidding? I'm having the time of my life. I loved the concerts.

M: Concert going is fantastic but what else can we do?

D: Biking along the banks of the river Danube could be fun.

M: It sounds like a great idea!

D: Let's do it then.

M: You're right. As they say, "he who hesitates is lost."

麦克和他的女朋友黛西现在正在维也纳。

麦：你玩得愉快吗，黛西?

黛：开玩笑!我正在享受我一生最快乐的时光。我爱死那些演奏会了。

麦：去听演奏会固然很棒，但是我们还可以做些什么呢?

黛：沿着多瑙河河岸骑自行车应该蛮好玩的。

麦：这个主意听起来非常不错!

黛：那我们快去吧!

1. hesitate vi. 犹豫，迟疑

hesitate to + 原形动词 做…犹豫不决

例：Do not hesitate to give me a call if you need help.

如果你需要帮助就打电话给我，不要犹豫。

2. 句型分析：

He who...+单数动词 凡是…的人…

=One who...+单数动词

=Those who...+复数动词

例：He who lives by the sword dies by the sword.

=One who lives by the sword dies by the sword.

=Those who live by the sword die by the sword.

3. Are you having a good time, Daisy?

a. have 若表“有”时，通常无法使用进行时。

例：I am having time.(×)

-->I have time.(√)

我有时间。

I am having money.(×)

-->I have money.(√)

我有钱。

No one has the guts to catch the mouse.

没有人敢抓那只老鼠。

此处的have均不可使用进行时。凡是一瞬间就可以完成的动词，称为“瞬间动词”，使用时就无法使用现在分词，形成进行时。换言之，只要是在中文里可以说“正在”的动词，即可使用进行时;反之，无法说“正在”的动词，则不可使用进行时。

例：I am eating.

我正在吃饭。

She was singing.

她当时正在唱歌。

I am having dinner.

我正在吃晚饭。

I am loving you.(×)

我正在爱你。——无此说法

I love you.(√)

我爱你。

此处的love一瞬间就可以判断爱不爱你，为瞬间动词，故不可用进行时。

b. 本文中使用了短语"have a good time"，不可译为“有一个好时光”，而应为“玩得愉快”。所以中文的“我正玩得愉快”在英文中可使用进行时"I am having a good time."。

4. have the time of one's life 渡过某人一生最愉快的时光

例：My family and I had the time of our lives in Hawaii last summer.

我和家人去年夏天在夏威夷渡过了我们一生中最愉快的时光。

5. fantastic a. (口语)极好的，美妙的

例：Mark played a fantastic game and beat John at tennis.

马克打了一场漂亮的网球赛，并打败了约翰。

6. bike vi. 骑脚踏车

例：Althouth your place is not very near, let's bike there.

虽然你住的地方离这有一段路，我们还是骑脚踏车去吧。

7. bank n. 河岸;银行

例：Dad went fishing on the bank of the river.

老爸到那条河的河岸钓鱼。

The bank is the safest place to keep your money, I guess.

我想银行是放钱最安全的地方。

8. As they say,"..."

=As people say,"..."

=As an old saying goes,"..."

=As the saying goes,"..."

=As the saying puts it,"..."
