Ghana Prepares for a Smooth Change of Power
Ghana: Representatives of the current and next governments have begun discussions to prepare for a smooth(1) change in power Sunday. Opposition leader John Kofuor will replace President Jerry Rollins. Mr. Kofuor and his team began talks Monday with Vice-president John Attenmuse. Mr. Kofuor defeated the vice-president in the December 28th election. Ghana’s constitution(2) barred(3) Mr. Rollins from seeking a third term. He came to power in an overthrow(4) in 1981. He was later elected president.
