As is shown in the drawing, on a balance or pair of scales, the gold of "Benefit" carries more weight than the heart of "Honesty". In the middle of the balance, a man is sliding toward the gold of "Benefit". However, honesty is the most important characteristic that a person requires to be successful in life. Only by consistently proving to be honest can a person earn the precious trust of family members, friends and business partners.
Although it would be good to have both, it seems that wealth has more of a magnetic drawing power than honesty and integrity. If you could only have one it appears that it would be harder to retain one's integrity than to increase one's bank balance. And if your wealth increases it seems that honesty decreases. This seems to be a current phenomenon where people are more concerned with their self interests at the expense of their integrity, just like the man in the drawing.
In the long run, an honest person may not be wealthy, but he or she will have earned the love and respect of the people closest to them, which, in my opinion, is a measure of a successful life.
如图所示，在一架天平或一台秤上，"利益"之金重于"诚信"之心。在天平中央，一名男子正滑向"利益"之金。然而，一个人若想人生有成，应具备的最重要的特征就是诚信。只有始终做到诚信，才能赢得家人、朋友和生意伙伴的宝贵信任。
既有诚信又得利益当然很好，但似乎财富比诚实和正直的吸引力更大。如果只能拥有一样，看上去似乎保持诚实比增加银行账户余额要难。而且，如果一个人的财富增加了，似乎人就没那么诚实了。目前似乎就存在这个现象：人们更关心个人的利益，却以损害诚信为代价，就像画中的男人一样。
从长远来看，一个诚实的人可能不会富有，但他或她将赢得周围人的爱戴和尊敬。在我看来，这就是成功人生的衡量标准。
