考研热潮

A growing number of college students and even people from all walks of life take part in the National Graduate Entrance Examination nowadays. According to an official statistics, in the year 2020 alone, there were more than 1.4 million applicants sitting for the exam. It seems to be a craze for postgraduate study.

如今，越来越多的大学生乃至社会各界人士参加全国研究生入学考试。据官方统计，仅2020年就有140多万人参加考试。看来，考研已经成为一种热潮。

People have different purposes in trying to go to the graduate school. First, the majority of candidates try to get into graduate school due to the employment pressure, as a bachelor’s degree is no longer evaluated as a sufficient qualification to ensure a decent job nowadays. Second, some people, though employed for years, find their knowledge inadequate to meet the demand of this ever-developing society. Naturally, they turn to postgraduate study. Third, some people see postgraduate study as a fashion and follow suit.

人们考取研究生的目的各不相同。首先，大多数人考研是迫于就业压力，因为在当今社会，本科学历已不再被认为是一份体面工作的充分条件。其次，有些人虽然工作多年，但发现自己的知识不足以满足这个不断发展的社会的需求。自然而然，他们就转而攻读研究生。第三，有些人认为读研究生是一种时尚，于是纷纷效仿。

In my opinion, it is advisable to pursue postgraduate study under the present condition of low employment rate and high demands on talents. And I have every reason to believe that more people will struggle to study in the graduate school and the craze for graduate study will last for years.

我认为，在目前就业率低、人才需求大的情况下，读研究生是明智之举。而且我有理由相信，会有更多的人拼命读研，读研热潮会持续多年。
