　　depend on/upon意为“取决于;依靠”，后面可以接短语或从句。在使用此短语时必须将depend与on连用，不可分开(depend被修饰时除外，如：depend too much on)，如下面两种表达：

　　1) They depend their living on me. (×)

　　2) They depend on me for living. (√)

　　关于depend，口语中常用的表达有That/It all depends. 意思是“这很难说，得看情况”。表示说话者对某事持不确定的态度。如：

　　1) Sometimes we're busy and sometimes we're not so busy. That (It all) depends. 我们有时候忙，有时候不忙，得分情况。

　　2) There are harvests once, twice and even three times a year, depending on the climate. 有时候一年收获一次，有时候一年收获两次甚至三次，这都取决于气候。
