A：明天早晨之前你能把安德森公司律师的辩护状放在我办公桌上吗？这个案子在时间上有些棘手。恐怕我不能再等了。
A: Can you have the briefs from the Anderson Firm's lawyer on my desk by
tomorrow morning? There are quite a few very time sensitive matters with this
case. I am afraid I can't wait any longer.
B：要拿到安德森公司的辩护状比你想象得要困难得多。我已经设法和他们的律师联系过多次，但每一次我给他打电话，他的秘书说他在开会或不在办公室．要么就是出差了。我在想他是在想法躲着我。
B: Getting those Anderson briefs has been harder than you can imagine. I have tried
to contact their lawyer many times, but every time I call, his secretary says he's
in a meeting or out of the office, or away on business. I am beginning to think
he's trying to avoid me.
A：那很有可能。他知道如果我们错过了诉讼的最后期限，那我们就没有机会跟他们竞标了。再试试跟他联系一下。给他打电话，看看他能否马上就发份传真来。
A: That's highly possible. He knows if we miss our filing deadline, we don't stand
a chance to compete against them for the bid. Try to get a hold of him again.
Give him a call and see if he can fax them first thing.
B：万一我无法跟他直接通话急么办?
B: What if I can't speak to him directly?
A：让他的秘书把这些材料发传真过来也一样。传真发完之后，再给马丁的办公室传一份复本。
A: Ask his secretary to fax them. It's the same thing. Have them fixed over, with
a copy also faxed to Martin's office.
B：我怎么才能找到马丁的传真号？在你的罗拉代克斯卡上吗?
B: How do I find Martin's fax number? Is he in your rolodex?
A：没有，不过你还可以给他们办公室打电话，让秘书告诉你传真号。今天稍晚一点儿我把他们办公室的号码发邮件给你。
A: No, but you can also call their office and ask the secretary to give you their fax
number. I'll email you their office number later today.
B：好的。我立刻去办这事。
B: Okay, I'll get on it first thing.
A：一定别忘了。我要尽快得到这些辩护状。
A: Be sure you do. I need those briefs ASAP.
