A: Hey, er, Mark, could you tell me about the first job you ever had?
嘿，马克，你能和我讲讲你的第一份工作吗？
B: I think it was when I was at university, well my first long term part time job was when I was at university and one night a week I used to work for 12 hours from 6 pm til 6am in a printing factory and we were actually making television guides to be distributed throughout the whole country.
我想那时我还在上大学，我的第一份长期兼职工作是在大学期间，当时我每周有一个晚上去一家印刷厂工作，时间是从晚上六点到第二天早上六点共12个小时，工作内容是确保电视指南分发到全国各地。
A: So you worked from 6am, I mean 6pm til 6am?
所以你从早上六点，我的意思是你从晚上六点一直工作到早上六点？
B: Yep, overnight. I felt that it was probably better to work just one long block of time than rather have a part time job 2 or 3 nights a week. So I kept that up for 2,2 and a half years until my final year of university. Then I decided that study on Friday was more important than the part time job, but for 2 and a half years I really enjoyed it.
对，一整晚的时间。我认为一个晚上的长时间工作要比每周工作两三个晚上的兼职要多。所以这份工作我做了两年半的时间，直到我大学最后一年。之后我决定周五学习要比兼职重要，但是这两年半的时间我很享受。
A: So for this job what exactly did you do? What were your duties?
那份工作你具体都做些什么呢？你的职责是什么？
B: We used to take the TV guides from the printing presses and bundle them up and get them ready for distribution to the various convenience stores and gas stands and bookstores throughout the whole country and then make sure that each or the shops and regions got the right number of guides.
我们要把电视指南送到印刷厂去印刷，然后把那些指南捆起来，为分发到全国的各个便利店、加油站和书店做好准备，之后要确保所有地区的商店都拿到正确数量的指南。
A: So a job like that would be manual labour, versus say a customer service job where you are always talking with people. Which type of job do you think is more enjoyable for a young person?
那这类工作属于体力劳动，而不是那种要一直和人们说话的客户服务类工作。你认为哪种工作对年轻人来说更有乐趣？
B: Because of the hours we worked, it was all overnight, there was a combination of other university students and also quite a few housewives who were doing it for extra income, so we actually had quite a good team. There were probably 10 to15 of us. We used to enjoy a good laugh while we were doing it as well.
因为我的工作要工作一整晚，还有其他大学的学生一起做那份工作，而且为了赚外快而做那类工作的家庭主妇很少，所以我们组成的团队非常不错。当时大概有10到15个人一起做那份工作。我们在工作的时候非常享受。
A: Sounds fun!

B: It was tiring, especially lectures on Friday mornings but we used to stay awake. I don't think I ever slept in the lecture afterwards.
实际上工作很累，尤其是周五上午有讲座，不过我们一直保持清醒。我认为我在工作结束之后的课上从来没有睡过觉。
