Fuzhou University is a state key university selected for inclusion in the national“Project 21 1”.Founded in 1958，the University has developed into one of China's excellent universities，distinguishing itself initially as a centre of science and engineering. Today，the University also has a reputation for excellence in other fields including economics and management，arts and design，law and liberal arts，etc.

福州大学是国家“211工程”重点建设大学，创建于1958年，现已发展成为一所以工为主，理、工、经、管、文、法、艺多学科协调发展的大学。

Fuzhou University is located in the historic city，Fuzhou，in Fujian Province which is situated along the southeast coast of China. The old and new campuses cover an area of more than 333.5 hectares with over 1 million of floor space.

福州大学位于中国东南沿海福建省的历史名城福州市，四个校区共占地333. 5公顷，建筑面积100余万平方米。

At present, the University comprises 21 colleges. There is one chemistry postdoctoral research station，4 first-rank doctoral degree programs，30 second-rank doctoral degree programs，14 first-rank master's degree programs，93 master's degree programs，3 professional master degree specialties of MBA( Master of Business Administration)，JM(Jurisprudence Master) and Master of Engineering，and sixty-one bachelor's degree programs. In addition，the University has 1 state key discipline，1 state Excellent Course，5 national“Project 211”key disciplines，1 national base for the basic scientific research and the training of the talented teachinc personnel and 23 provincial key disciplines.

学校设有21个学院。一个化学博士后流动站，4个一级学科博士点，30个二级学科博士点，14个一级学科硕士点，93个硕士点，3个专业学位授权点，即工商管理硕士(MBA )、法律硕士(JM、和工程硕士(含14个工程领域),61个本科专业。学校还拥有一个国家重点学科，一门国家级精品课程，5个国家级“211工程”重点建设学科，一个“全国理科基础科学研究和教学人才培养基地”,23个省级重点学科，

Now the University has an enrollment of over 32 000 full-time students，amonc which there are more than; 3 900 graduate students for doctoral and master's degree. Besides，the University has over 7 000 students belonging to independent colleges and over 6 000 students of adult education. Since its foundation，the University has trained more that 64 000 students with doctoral，master or bachelor degrees. The University has been approved by the Ministry of Education to offer undergraduate and graduate programs to students from Hong Kong，Macao，Taiwan regions and foreign countries.

目前在校全日制学生32 000多名，其中博士、硕士研究生3 900多名，另有独立建制学院学生7 000余名，成人教育学历类学生6 000多名。建校以来，已为国家培养了博士、硕士研究生、本专科毕业生64 000余名。学校为国家教育部批准可招收外国和港、澳、台地区本科生、研究生的高校。

The University has the total of 3 300 faculty members，including over 1 700 fulltime teachers and researchers，over 700 full and associate professors，3 academiclans of the Chinese Academy of Engineering，8 nationally accredited experts with outstanding contributions，4 winners of National Outstanding Youth Foundation，32 provincial accredited experts with outstanding contributions，4 specially invited professors of“Minjiang River Scholar Program"，6 teachers selected by national“Millions of Talents Program”，48 teachers selected by provincial“Millions of Talents Program"，120 doctor supervisors and 105 recipients of special subsidies from the central government.

现有教职工3 30U多名，专任教师、专职科研人员1 700多名，教授、副教授等高级职称人员700余名，其中中国工程院院士3名(含双聘院士2名)，国家级突出贡献专家8名，国家杰出青年科学基金获得者4名，省级有突出贡献专家和优秀专家犯名，闽江学者计划特聘教授4名，国家“百千万人才工程”第一、第二层次人选6名，省“百千万人才工程”人选48名，博士生导师120名，享受政府特殊津贴专家105名。

The library holds over t . 97 million volumes of books，over 700 000 electric books and over 200 thousand newspapers and periodicals. More than 100 full-text databases in Chinese language and foreign languages，such as EI and CA，are available in the library. The computer network in the university is used as the main connection of Chinese Education and Scientific Research Network in Fujian Province as well as the network center for Fuzhou City. In November，1995，the university computer network was connected with the National Science Education Network and the INTERNET. Free access to Internet resources at home and abroad is now availabie in the university

校图书馆藏书197余万册，电一子图一书70余万册，20余万种报刊杂志，并引进EI、CA等中外全文数据库近百种;校计算机网作为中国教育和科研计算机网福建省网主节点和福州网络中心，已尹19.s年1t月与国家教科网及INTEf}NET联网，并免费开放对国内外网络资源的访问。
