　　Don't know beans about something是美国俚语，表示对某事一窍不通，一点也不了解，对什么都不知道，相当于know nothing about something。

　　A: The bottom line is that they have to create more jobs.

　　最本质的问题是他们要提供更多的工作机会。

　　B: But I think the social security is important as well.

　　但是我认为社会保障也同等重要。

　　bottom line 的字面意思是“最末一行”，引申为“最重要的因素”“最关键的因素”“要旨”或“无法回避，必须考虑或接受的事情”。

　　Dangle a carrot中的dangle意为“使摇晃着悬挂”，carrot是指“胡萝卜”，其字面意思是“是胡萝卜摇晃着悬挂着”，比喻为“开空头支票”“以实现不了的诺言诱惑”。用来指一个人承诺了一件事情，可是让其他人觉得他无法做到。俚语词典解释道：To dangle a carrot in front of someone means to tempt someone withan item that is not attainable.
