空巢老人

The emergence of empty nester is a practical as well as new problem in the course of social development in China. It used to be not so obvious in the past as the structure of traditional Chinese families tended to be stable. However, with the acceleration of modernization, traditional society is prone to disintegrate. Therefore, one can barely see three or four generations living under the same roof. In addition, the family planning policy encourages only one child in a family. As a result, a large number of families have only one child. Coupled with the economic burden, there have been many problems in providing for one's parents. Experts have predicted that around the year 2030, there will be a peak of aging in China.
