1.wait   及物动词 vt. & 不及物动词 vi.
         等候, 等待
         We shan't wait long.
         我们不会等很久的。

2.I'd rather be his whore than your wife.
         would rather    than    :
         宁愿...而不愿；与其…不如
         He would rather play than work.
         他“宁可”玩，却不愿工作。

3.Can anybody hear me?  在文本中的意思是有没有人听得见？
  hear from   收到…的信；受…的批评
  I hope to hear from you soon.
  我希望能够早点儿收到你的信。
 
4.  hear of： 听到说起
  We grieved to hear of your loss.
  听到你蒙受损失，我们感到痛心。

5.put on   :穿上；上演；增加；假装；使…上场
           When she married, she put on her Sunday best.
           她结婚的时候穿的是自己最好的衣服。
 

文本中出现了一个词组是  would rather than  :  宁愿...而不愿；与其…不如 ,但是在我们平时的写作中或者阅读中还有很多类似的词组 ....

1. Neither……nor     :既不 …… 也不 …… ，既非 …… 也非 ……
例如：Neither boy students nor girl students are right ． 男生和女生都不对。
（连接两个并列的复数主语）

  Neither the teacher nor the students are going to Huashan. 老师和同学们都不打算去华山。
动词与最靠近的主语相一致）

2. either…or…    ：要么 …… 要么 …… ，或者 …… 或者 ……
例如：The green shirt is either yours or hers ． 这件绿色的衬衣不是你的就是她的。  
（连接并列表语）
 Either Mary or Rose is coming ． 不是玛丽来，就是罗斯来。
（连接两个并列的单数主语）

 

1. 我在等你的解释。

2.我不会讲法语，她也不会讲法语。

3. 她不是醉了就是疯了。
