There be句型是英语中常用的重要句型之一，意为“某处有某物或某人”，句子的结尾往往带有地点状语或时间状语，其中there是引导词，本身没有词义，be是谓语动词，be后的名词或代词是句子的主语。

21-3 There be句型的各种结构形式

1.There be句型的时态形式

There be句型也有多种时态形式，其时态结构由谓语动词be来体现。

（1）一般现在时结构：There is ...；There are ...如：

There is some milk in the fridge.冰箱里有一些牛奶。

There are some boys playing basketball over there.有一些男孩在那儿打篮球。

（2）一般将来时结构：①There is going to be ...；②There will be ...如：

There is going to be an English film tonight.今晚将有一场英语电影。

There will be rain next week.下星期要下雨。

（3）一般过去时结构：There was；There were 如：

There wasn't any change in him.他没有什么变化。

There were some children swimming in the river.有些小孩在河里游泳。

（4）现在完成时结构：There have been ...如：

There have been a lot of inquiries.提出的询问有很多。

There have been many such accidents.已发生了好几起那样的事故。

2.There be句型的变式

有时There be句型中的动词be可根据情况换为 live，stand，lie，seem，appear，come等。如：

Once upon a time there lived a man with the name of Joe Beef.从前有个名叫乔·比夫的人。

There seems something the matter with her.她好像是出了什么事似的。

There stands an old temple at the top of the hill.在小山顶上有一座古庙。

3.There be与情态动词连用

There be句型有时可以与情态动词连用，情态动词放在be的前面，此时be无数的变化。

（1）There be与can/could 连用，表示推断，意为“可能有……”。如：

There can be no life on the earth without water.没有水地球上就可能没有生命。

（2）There be与may/might 连用，表示猜测，意为“可能有……，大概有……”。如：

There might still be hope.可能还有希望。

There may be a letter for me.大概有我的一封信。

There may be a storm tomorrow.明天可能有暴风雨。

There might be drinks if you wait for a bit.如果你等一会儿，可能会有饮料。

（3）There be与must 连用，表示肯定推测，意为“一定有……”。如：

There must be a mistake.一定是弄错了。

He felt there must be something wrong.他感到准有什么问题。

There must be somebody at home.家里肯定有人。

（4）There be与should 连用，意为“应当有……；应该有……”。如：

There shouldn't be any doubt about it.对此不应有什么怀疑。

（5）There be与ought to 连用，意为“应当有……；应该有……”。如：

There ought to be a comma here.这儿应有一个逗号。

There ought to be traffic lights at this crossroads.这个十字路口应该有红绿灯。

（6）There be与used to 连用，意为“过去有……”。如：

There used to be a small park just around the corner.以前在那个拐角就有一个小公园。

There used to be a hospital here.过去这里有家医院。

There used to be four cinemas in the town.Now there is only one.过去这座城市有四家电影院。现在只有一家了。

4.There be句型there的省略

在There be句型中，如果地点状语放在句首，there有时可以省略。如：

In front of our school （there）runs a clean and clear stream.我们学校门前流淌着一条干净、清澈的小溪。

On the top of the desk （there）are piles of books.桌子上有几堆书。

From behind the door （there）rushed out a white and black dog.从门后跑出来一条黑白相间的狗。
