三、定冠词用于固定句式中

1.the+比较级，the+比较级

The sooner，the better.越快越好。

The more，the better.越多越好。

The more he gives his children，the more they want.给孩子越多，他们要的越多。

The higher we stand，the farther we see.站得越高，看得越远。

The more he explains，the more I am puzzled.他越解释，我越迷惑。

The harder you work，the more progress you’ll make.越努力，你取得的进步就越大。

2.动词+sb.+介词+the+身体部位

catch sb.by the collar 抓着某人的领子　　　cut sb.in the hand 割某人的手

lead sb.by the arm 拉着某人的胳膊　　　　　lead the cow by the nose 牵着牛鼻子

pat sb.on the shoulder 拍某人的肩膀　　　　take sb.by the throat 扼住某人的咽喉

hit sb.in the arm/eye/face/leg 打某人的胳膊/眼睛/脸/腿

hit sb.on the back/head/nose 打某人的脊背/头/鼻子

【提示】 “动词+sb.+介词+the+身体部位”句式中，不能用形容词性物主代词代替the。

3.“the+整十数词复数”，表示年代

He moved to the south in the fifties.他于50年代搬到了南方。

The war broke out in the 1980s.战争爆发于20世纪80年代。

【提示】 表示“某人……岁”时，用“in+one’s+整十的数词复数”。

in my teens 我十几岁时 in her thirties 她三十几岁时

4.表示具体计量

（1）by the hour 按小时　　　by the day 按天　　　　by the week 按周

　　 by the month 按月　　　 by the year 按年

（2）by the metre 按米　　　 by the foot 按英尺　　 by the yard 按码

（3）by the dozen 按打　　　 by the pound 按英镑

【提示】 by size（按大小）和by weight（按重量）中不用冠词。

5.用于固定短语

（1）时间短语

all the time 一直　　　　　　　　 at the age of 在……岁时

at the beginning of 在……开头　　　at the end of 在……结束时

at the same time 同时　　　　　　 at the moment 此刻

in the meantime 同时　　　　　　　in the past 在过去

for the time being 暂时

（2）状态短语

on the air 正在广播　　　　　　　 on the decrease 在减少

on the fall 在下跌中　　　　　　　on the flow 在涨潮

on the fly 正在飞行　　　　　　　 on the go 四处奔走

on the rise 在上涨中　　　　　　　on the run 奔走在逃亡中

on the move 在移动　　　　　　　　on the march 在行军

on the watch 提防着　　　　　　　 on the turn 在转变中
