一、主句和宾语从句时态的一致

1.主句是现在时态或将来时态时，宾语从句可用所需要的任何时态

I think Tom is ill today.我认为汤姆今天病了。（宾语从句用一般现在时）

I think Tom has gone to the doctor’s.

我认为汤姆已经去看医生了。（宾语从句用现在完成时）

I think Tom went to the doctor’s yesterday.

我认为汤姆昨天去看医生了。（宾语从句用一般过去时）

Do you know when we’ll have a football match？

你知道我们什么时候举行足球赛吗？（宾语从句用一般将来时）

2.主句是过去时，宾语从句用过去时中的某种时态

Mr Smith told me that he would come but he was busy.

史密斯先生告诉我他要来，但太忙了。（从句用过去将来时）

Mr Smith told me that he didn’t know the news.

史密斯先生告诉我他不知道这个消息。（从句用一般过去时）

Mr Smith told me that he had known the news already.

史密斯先生告诉我他已经知道这个消息了。（从句用过去完成时）

I knew she was studying English in this school in the years from 1985 to 1987.

我知道从1985年到1987年期间她在这所学校学习英语。（从句用过去进行时）

I knew that he had been working here since 1960.

我知道他自1960年以来就一直在这里工作。（从句用过去完成进行时）

【提示】 如果宾语从句表示的是一般真理或习惯性行为，则使用一般现在时。

The students knew that water consists of oxygen and hydrogen.

学生们都知道水是由氧和氢构成的。
