The affair with Paula Broadwell was uncovered [01:06.13]by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. [01:09.03]The FBI was investigating threatening e-mails [01:13.73]sent to a Florida woman, Jill Kelley. [01:17.57]Officials found that Paula Broadwell sent the e-mails. [01:22.66]Further research uncovered the relationship between her and General Petraeus. [02:48.30]However, some officials say a computer used by Paula Broadwell [02:54.69]was found to have classified information. [02:58.49]She and General Petraeus both deny that he passed top secret information to her. [03:06.92]Law enforcement officials are investigating how she used or handled the information. [03:14.66]The CIA also announced it will investigate the Petraeus case. [03:21.25]The FBI also uncovered an unusual amount of communication between Jill Kelley [03:29.63]and the head of NATO forces in Afghanistan, General John Allen. [03:35.67]Its investigation found up to thirty thousand pages of messages between the two. [03:43.60]Jill Kelley is known for her high-level social ties to MacDill Air Force Base, [03:51.24]which is the home of the American Central Command. [03:54.93]Through her social events, [03:58.97]she became friends with both General Petraeus and General Allen. [04:04.26]The Defense Department is investigating General Allen's ties to Ms. Kelley [04:10.49]as a possible violation of military rules. [04:15.09]The general has denied any wrongdoing. [04:19.63]He will remain as head of NATO forces in Afghanistan [04:24.43]while the investigation continues. On Tuesday, [04:29.51]President Obama delayed the general's nomination [04:33.29]to be NATO's top commander in Europe until the investigation is complete.
