“足球初恋”卡卡退役

He is a player whose achievements will eternalize his name in world of soccer. Now he says goodbye.

凭借战绩，他足以成为足球界的不朽传奇。如今，他宣布退役了。

Kaka, byname of Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite, retired on Dec 17 from competitive soccer at the age of 35, after struggling with a series of knee injuries.

卡卡是里卡多·伊泽克森·多斯·桑托斯·雷特的小名。在不断遭受膝盖伤病折磨后，35岁的足球运动员卡卡于12月17日宣布退役。

“It was much more than I could ever have imagined,” Kaka wrote of his career on his micro blog. “I’m now ready for the next journey.”

The Brazilian superstar indicated that he could continue his post-playing career in soccer.

“I am preparing to continue in soccer and to have a different role, but I will no longer be a professional player, an athlete,” he told Rede Globo television. “I would like to take part in a club in a role more like a manager, a sporting director – someone between the field and the club.”

Kaka has been known for his amazing skills and ability of self-control. The fact that he “does not drink or chase women” partly contributes to his great career, which features the trophies of World Cup, Champions League and Ballon d’Or, the Guardian noted.

But Kaka has been able to respect other players’ different choices of lifestyles.

“I have my life. I have my values. And compared with much of society, especially soccer, that is radical” he told the Guardian.

In fact, Kaka is anything but a radical on the pitch. The beauty of his soccer lies in its simplicity, according to coaches and fellow players around the soccer world. He is quick, direct, and good at mazy dribbles and providing goal-scoring chances for others.

He always tries to “go vertically rather than horizontally”, former AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti told the Guardian. “He never takes the extra, unnecessary touch.”
