"That's one of those, you feel like in your lifetime you're not going to be handed opportunities like that, so for that to pass in the fashion that it did it was sort of a gut punch. That's a role though, that I don't make light of it, but I had to go therapy with my wife."

Gosselaar admitted that while he loved Pitch, it was beginning to have an adverse effect on his personal life. He found himself bringing his character's "really aggressive baseball player" attitude home with him.

Though he's had some rough luck with season renewals over the years, Gosselaar didn't let the cancellation of Pitch throw him off acting forever. He's since reprised the role that made him famous on the underrated (and also cancelled) reboot of Saved by the Bell, guest starred as himself on HBO's critical darling Barry, and is currently starring on the recently renewed ABC police procedural Will Trent.
