Kindergarten, primary and secondary schools are expected to welcome students in staggered time slots from Aug 15 to Oct 10, while universities are allowing students to return on different schedules from late August to early October.

中小学及幼儿园在8月15日至10月10日期间分批开学，高校学生在8月底到10月初期间分批返校。

【单词讲解】

这里的staggered是形容词，表示“错开的”，比如疫情意见，很多公司实行staggered working hours(错峰上下班)政策，也就是不同部门的员工上下班以及午休的时间各不相同，以避免同一时间段内人群在同一个场所聚集。Staggered schedule也是类似的意思，不同年级的学生开学报到的时间不同，由此也可以避免校园里学生大量聚集。

严防严控，守护师生健康

教育部应对新冠肺炎疫情工作领导小组办公室主任王登峰介绍：

After the new semester begins, schools should keep records of the health of every student, even if they show no symptoms of illness, and university students and teachers should not leave their campus unless necessary.

这里的by no means是一个固定搭配的词组，表示“绝非，决不”，比如：I'm by no means angry with you.(我绝对没有生你的气。)后面的slack是形容词表示“懈怠、松懈的”，比如：The teachers are kind of slack about enforcing rules.(老师们在执行规定的时候有些懈怠。)Slack本身也可以作为动词，表示“放松、松懈”，比如：Everyone slacks off/up at the end of the week.(到了一周结束的时候，大家都松劲儿了。)

Students and staff at Beijing primary and secondary schools should continue to wear masks on campus for the new semester, and they should remove them only for outdoor activities, the Beijing Municipal Education Commission said recently.

北京市教委最近表示，新学期开学后，北京中小学师生除课外活动外，在校期间均需佩戴口罩。

More than 600,000 university students are expected to return to the capital and they should all take nucleic acid tests before going to their campuses, with the costs paid by universities, the commission said.

A total of 150,000 sentry posts have been set up in various locations to ensure that students can go to and from school safely, especially during rush hour in major road sections, said Zhang Ming, spokeswoman for the Ministry of Public Security.

公安部新闻发言人张明表示，目前全国各地已设立“护学岗”15万个，优化重要路段“高峰勤务”机制，确保学生上下学安全。

Additionally, about 250,000 police offices and sentry posts have been established, which could promptly deal with situations when teachers or students call police for help.

同时，校园周边设立警务室及治安岗亭25万个，以做到及时通报校园警情，及时应对处置师生报警求助。
