A weeklong public awareness campaign on China's constitution was launched on Nov 30 ahead of the country's annual Constitution Day, which falls on Dec 4. The theme of this year's campaign is "further studying and publicizing Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law and promoting the spirit of the Constitution".

我国现行宪法是在党的领导下，在深刻总结我国社会主义革命、建设、改革实践经验基础上制定和不断完善的，实现了党的主张和人民意志的高度统一，具有强大生命力，为改革开放和社会主义现代化建设提供了根本法治保障。党领导人民制定和完善宪法，就是要发挥宪法在治国理政中的重要作用。

宪法是国家根本法，是治国安邦的总章程，具有最高的法律地位、法律权威、法律效力。依法治国，首先是依宪治国;依法执政，关键是依宪执政。维护宪法权威，就是维护党和人民共同意志的权威;捍卫宪法尊严，就是捍卫党和人民共同意志的尊严;保证宪法实施，就是保证人民根本利益的实现。

【重要讲话】

要坚持依宪治国、依宪执政。坚持依宪治国、依宪执政，就包括坚持宪法确定的中国共产党领导地位不动摇，坚持宪法确定的人民民主专政的国体和人民代表大会制度的政体不动摇。

We need to adhere to Constitution-based governance, unswervingly uphold the leadership of the Party, the people's democratic dictatorship and the people's congress system, which are enshrined in the Constitution.
