5月26日，国家主席习近平向世界环境司法大会致贺信。习近平指出，中国愿同世界各国、国际组织携手合作，共同推进全球生态环境治理。
President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to the World Judicial Conference on Environment on May 26, saying that China stands ready to cooperate with other countries and international organizations to jointly promote global ecological and environmental governance.

2021年5月26日，世界环境司法大会在云南省昆明市开幕，主题为“发挥司法作用　促进生态文明：共建地球生命共同体”。
近年来，中国加快推进生态文明顶层设计和制度体系建设，特别是宪法修正案将新发展理念、生态文明建设和建设美丽中国的要求写入宪法，生态环境保护在经济社会发展全局中的地位不断提升。习近平主席在2020年12月举行的气候雄心峰会讲话中专门提到，中国历来重信守诺，将以新发展理念为引领，在推动高质量发展中促进经济社会发展全面绿色转型，脚踏实地落实承诺的目标。
2020年9月，中国宣布，将提高国家自主贡献力度，力争2030年前二氧化碳排放达到峰值，努力争取2060年前实现碳中和。2020年12月，中国进一步宣布：到2030年，中国单位国内生产总值二氧化碳排放将比2005年下降65%以上，非化石能源占一次能源消费比重将达到25%左右，森林蓄积量将比2005年增加60亿立方米，风电、太阳能发电总装机容量将达到12亿千瓦以上。
