　　1. 解词释义

　　Could turkey的意思是“毫无准备，缺乏诚意”“果断毅然”。西方人最大的节日就是圣诞节了，过节时家家都准备火鸡，而不精配料的火鸡是最容易做的，它几乎不花心思来准备，商店里随处都可以买到现成的。然后，冷火鸡的味道就相差太远了。所以切忌用could turkey来招待客人，否则客人觉得你没有诚意，而拂袖而去。其英文解释为："Cold turkey" describes the actions of a person who abruptly gives up a habit oraddiction rather than gradually easing the process through gradual reduction or by usingreplacement medication.

　　跟不同的动词搭配有不同的意思，talk turkey to sb.的意思是“直接坦率地与某人说话”，talk could turkey的意思是做即兴演说，go cold turkey的意思是“断然停止”，quit cold turkey的意思是“断然戒烟”。
