旅馆侍者
A traveler was standing at the desk in the lobby of aWashington hotel. He was in a hurry. He had only tenminutes to pay his bill and reach the station.Suddenly he remembered that he had forgottensomething.
一位旅客站在华盛顿一家旅馆门厅的桌子旁，心急如焚。他要付账单，又要赶到车站去，可是他只剩下10分钟的时间了。突然，他想起忘了一件东西。
He called the bellboy and said, "Run up to Room 48and see whether I left a box on the table. Be quick, I am in a hurry."
他叫来侍者，说：“跑到48号房间，看看我是不是把一只箱子忘在桌子上了。快，我时间很紧。”
The boy ran up the stairs. Five minutes passed, and the gentleman was walking up and downimpatiently.
侍者跑上楼。5分钟过去了，绅士不耐烦地走来走去。
At last the boy came back.
终于，侍者回来了。
"Yes, sir," he said, "yes, sir, you left it there. It's on the table."
“是的，先生。”他说，“没错，是忘在那里了，在桌子上。”
