Mid-Autumn Day

Lisa： Nice weather，isn't it? It sure was hot last week.

Gina： I'm glad it is getting cooler as we are into autumn now．Today is Mid-Autumn Day .

Lisa： What's that?

Gina： It is a traditional Chinese holiday．It falls on the 15th day of the eighth moon according to the lunar calendar .

Lisa： What do you do on Moon Festival?

Gina： It's a time for family reunion ．In ancient times，people have worshipped the full moon .

Lisa： Any special food?

Gina： Yes，we eat moon cake for dessert．But the moon cakes are loaded with calories，so it's not for the fat people who are on a diet．The best way to wash down these cakes is with a cup of Chinese tea，especially Jasmine or Chrysanthemum tea．Tea aids the digestion.

Lisa： Wow，you are so knowledgeable．You know，I'm interested in different culture．Chinese festival is very interesting，too．Would you mind telling me about the Mid–Autumn Day?

Gina： OK，Speaking of eating moon cakes，we have to talk about the story between Chang-Eand Hou Yi .

Lisa： Is that true?

Gina： No．It's not true．It's only legend.

中秋节

琳达： 今天天气真好。上星期好热呀！

吉娜： 真高兴，是秋天了，凉快一点儿了。今天是中秋节。

琳达： 什么是中秋节？

吉娜： 是一个传统中国节日，农历的八月十五日。

琳达： 中秋节做什么呢？

吉娜： 是全家团圆的日子。古代还有拜月的习俗。

琳达： 有没有什么传统的食物？

吉娜： 有，我们吃月饼当甜点。月饼所含的热量较大，因此不适合那些在减肥的肥胖人士的。吃这种糕点最好就着一杯中国茶，特别是茉莉花茶或是菊花茶，茶水可以帮助消化。

琳达： 喔，你真博学。你知道，我对不同的文化很感兴趣的。中国的节日也是非常有趣的。你能给我讲讲中秋节吗？

吉娜： 好啊，谈到吃月饼，我们要谈到有关嫦娥和后羿的故事。

琳达： 那故事是真实的吗？

吉娜： 不，不是真实的。它仅仅是个传说。
