名词foot用法归纳

1. 1英尺=12英寸=1 / 3码=30.5厘米。如：

Three feet make a yard. 3英尺为1码。

There are twelve inches in one foot. 1英尺等12英寸。

2. 表示“脚”时，其复数为feet；表示“英尺”时，其复数是feet或foot。如：

Jim is six foot [feet] tall. 吉姆6英尺高。

但在复合形容词中通常用单数。如：

a six-foot-tall man 6英尺高的人。

3. 表示“步行”，说成英语是on foot。如：

Today they came here on foot. 今天他们走路来的。

It’s easier to get there on foot than by car. 到那儿去，步行比坐车容易。

4. 用于短语to one’s feet，其意为“……起来”。如：

He came over and brought the old man to his feet. 他走过来把老人扶了起来。
