habit的用法与搭配习惯

1. 表示做某事的习惯，其后通常要接 of doing sth作定语，通常不接不定式。如：

I make a habit of never lending money to strangers. 我自己立下个规矩，从来不把钱借给生人。

类似下面这样的句子虽然在habit后接了不定式，但不是定语，而是主语，注意句首使用的形式主语。如：

It is her habit to go for a walk after supper. 晚饭后散步是她的习惯。

It was not his habit to ask people for things. 他没有向别人要东西的习惯。

2. 注意以下有用搭配：

(1) 表示具有做某事的习惯，通常与have, be in搭配。如：

Is it in the habit of biting people? 你的狗咬人吗?

He has in the habit of rising early. 他有早起的习惯。

(2) 表示养成、沾染、形成做某事的习惯，通常与acquire, develop, fall into, form, get into, make等动词搭配。如：

You need to form the habit of reading carefully. 你需要养成仔细阅读的习惯。

I’ve got into the habit of switching on the TV as soon as I get home. 我已养成一到家就打开电视机的习惯。

It’s very easy to fall into the habit of smoking, but extremely difficult to stop. 要养成吸烟的习惯很容易，但要戒掉却极其困难。

(3) 表示打破或戒除做某事的习惯，通常与break, get out of, get rid of, give up, kick等动词搭配。如：

I wish I could get out of the habit of smoking. 我希望我能改掉吸烟的习惯。

You must break off [get rid of] the habit of telling lies. 你必须戒掉说谎的习惯。

3. 表示“出于习惯”，一般用介词out of habit。如：

I sat in my old seat purely out of habit. 我完全是习惯性地坐到了我的老位子上。

有时也用from the habit。如：

I smoke only from habit; I wish I could break the habit. 我吸烟只是一种习惯，我希望改掉这个习惯。
