别信口开河了。
shoot from the hip这个习语起源于100多年前的美国西部，那个年代多数人除了睡觉，腰带上都插着枪。而那些老练的枪手在急于射击时根本不把枪举到齐肩高来瞄准，他们拔出手枪在腰下髋关节的部位就发射了。现在这个习语用来表示一个人在未经深思熟虑前就乱说话或采取行动，也就是：“信口开河，鲁莽行事”。因此，当美国人说"Don't shoot from your hip."时，他/她要表达的意思就是:"Don't talk nonsense."、"Don't make irresponsible remarks."。
