1.company man是什么意思？
看到"company"相信大部分的人都知道它的意思：公司，陪伴。那老外说你是“company man”是什么意思呢？
英文释义
A male employee whose allegiance to his company or its management—or the interests thereof—takes precedence or priority over his own opinions or the interests of his fellow workers.
看待公司或其管理层或其利益高于自己的或同事的人，十分忠于公司的人。
Dating from the 1920s, a period of considerable labor unrest, this term uses company in  the  sense  of  "a  business  concern"  and  was  often  applied  as  a  criticism  by  supporters  of  labor  unions.
这个表达在1920年代初开始流行。它发展于许多工会为了获得更好的工作条件而罢工的时期。这个表达使用了company在“商业层面”的意思，并通常被支持工会的人用来批评他人。

2.confidence man不是说“自信的人”
老外说 You're a confidence man 是什么意思？
听到“You're a confidence man”，想着这是在夸赞自己自信吧？心里是不是还有点小窃喜？其实这不是一句好话！
虽然confidence有“信心；自信”的意思，但confidence man是指：诈骗钱财的骗子。可能是因为 confidence man 很擅长利用 confidence tricks 信任的伎俩。所以当老外说You're a confidence man是在说“你是个骗子”。
例：
A: At least I have people skills.
至少我掌握些人际技巧。
B: You're a con man. 
你是个骗子
A: Yes, I'm a confidence man. I give people confidence, they give me their money.

3.straw man是什么意思？
straw的本意是“稻草”，那么加上man其实你就可以理解为“稻草人”。根据稻草人的用途功能，straw man也在口语中被引申使用为“假想敌、被用作挡箭牌的人”。
