第二章名词与冠词 专有名词前冠词的用法

　　1.除了某些特殊情况，专有名词前一般不加冠词:

　　Mr.Brown，Vice-Director Liu，Germany，Paris，Southeast Asia，Ancient Greece，New England，July，Monday，English

　　2.在不少情况下专有名词前要加定冠词，如：

　　1)江河海洋的名称：

　　the Yellow River 黄河

　　the East China Sea 东海

　　the Pacific Ocean 太平洋

　　the Arctic 北冰洋

　　2)山脉群岛，海湾海峡的名称：

　　the Alps 阿尔卑斯山

　　The Rocky Mountains 洛矶山脉

　　the Philippines 菲律宾群岛

　　the Taiwan Straits 台湾海峡

　　the Persian Gulf 波斯湾

　　但单山独岛名称前不加冠词：

　　Mount Emei 峨嵋山

　　Christian Island 圣诞岛

　　3)某些国名、组织机构等名称：

　　the People's Republic of China 中华人民共和国

　　the United Kingdom 联合王国

　　the United Nations 联合国

　　the Ministry of Education 教育部

　　the State Council 国务院

　　the State Department 美国国务院

　　the House of Commons 美国下议院

　　(但：Congress美国国会，Parliament英国国会)

　　4)某些建筑物：

　　the National Gallery 国家美术馆

　　the Military Museum 军事博物馆

　　the Capital Theater 首都剧场

　　the Peace Hotel 和平饭店

　　the Pentagon 五角大楼

　　the White House 白宫

　　5)报纸、会议、条约等的名称：

　　the Washington Post 华盛顿邮报

　　the Daily Mail 每日邮报

　　The Times泰晤士报

　　the New York Times 纽约时报

　　the Geneva Conference 日内瓦会议

　　the North Atlantic Pact 北大西洋公约

　　但有些专有名词前多不加冠词，如街名，广场名

　　Fleet Street 舰队街

　　Riverside Avenue 滨河大道

　　大学名，节日名，杂志名

　　Times Square 时代广场

　　Oxford University 牛津大学

　　Christmas 圣诞节

　　May Day 五一节

　　Time 时代杂志
