“副驾驶”英文怎么说？难道是 vice driver？

而且这个说法有点奇怪:

明明坐在副驾驶的人就是乘客,

除了有时候指指点点影响驾驶员心情以外,

似乎跟驾驶没关系,

为何要称为"副驾驶"?

"副驾驶"在英文中还有一个表达:

shotgun /ˈʃɔtˌgʌn/

本意: 猎枪; 霰(xiàn)弹枪

口语中经常指“副驾驶”

源自十九世纪美国西部扛枪打仗的年代，因为视野好便于观察敌情，所以拿枪的都坐司机旁边的座位。逐渐地shotgun就演化成副驾驶的意思。

Notice that we have the apostrophe S, but you can’t really hear it because the next word begins with an S. The two S’s blend together into one sound to link the words.
