01

be/fall ill

生病

“生病”的英文和“生”(be born)并没有关系，可以用be ill或fall ill来表示。

I am ill and not feeling well.

我生病了，感觉不太舒服。

对话

A:Are you all right?

你还好吗?

B:I fell ill.

我生病了。

“病了”除了可以用ill表示外，还可以用sick

所以“生病”就可以说成be/fall sick

另外，还可以用become和get来替换fall

have a fever /ˈfiːvə(r)/

发烧

要想直译“发烧”并不容易，要记住它是用have a fever来表示的。

I have a fever and a headache.

我发烧了，还头疼。

对话

A:You look a bit pale.

你看起来脸色有点苍白。

B:I think I have a fever.

我想我是发烧了。

“发高烧”是have a high fever

另外，fever也可以换成temperature“温度”这个词

即have a temperature“发烧”

head cold

伤风鼻塞

伤风感冒时，鼻子经常会堵塞、不通气，这种症状就是“伤风鼻塞”，但是需要注意的是，它的英文表达中没有表示“鼻子”的nose，而是用了head一词，即head cold。

I have a head cold.

我感冒了，而且鼻塞。

对话

A:I have a terrible head cold.

我得了严重的伤风鼻塞。

B:You'd better go to see a doctor.

你最好去看看医生。

have an injection [ɪnˈdʒekʃn]

打针

“打针”虽然由“打”和“针”两个字组成，但是它的英文表达里既没有表示“打”的beat，也没有表示“针”的needle，而是用have an injection来表示的。

I hate having injections.

我讨厌打针。

对话

A:I have a fever.

我发烧了。

B:You should go to hospital to have an injection.

你应该去医院打一针。

injection是名词，它的动词是inject

有时候，“打针”还可以用give sb.a shot来表示

另外，“输液”用英文表示是have an infusion/ɪnˈfjuːʒn/

regular checkup

定期检查

“定期的”就是regular，而“检查”可以表示为checkup，所以“定期检查”的英文表达直接翻译过来就行。

Mary went to hospital to have a regular checkup yesterday.

玛丽昨天去医院做定期检查了。

对话

A:Do you need to do a regular checkup tomorrow?

明天你是不是要去做定期检查啊?

B:No.It is the day after tomorrow.

不是，是后天。

我们经常说的“体检”，即“身体健康检查”

用英文表示就是health checkup

还可以用physical examination 表示

例句：

Did you have your routine health checkup this year?

Take some cold medicine and then go to sleep for a while.
