Many people love music, but what is it? Generally, music is an art form in which the medium-sound is organized in time. The development of music among humans must have taken place against the backdrop(背景)of natural sounds, such as birdsong and the other sounds for animals to communicate.

许多人喜爱音乐，那么究竟什么是音乐呢? 一般来讲，音乐是指一种将声音按时间组织起来的艺术形式。音乐在人类中的发展最初源自于对鸟叫以及其他动物用于交流所发出的声音的一种模仿。

Music can be divided into genres(流派) and sub-genres(分支)，although the dividing lines and relationships between music genres are often subtle(模糊的), sometimes even controversial. However, just as the saying goes "one man's meat is another man's poison", no matter what kind of genre one likes, the important thing is that he can get satisfaction from it.

音乐可以被划分为不同的流派或分支，尽管在一定程度上这种划分的界限通常比较模糊，甚至有时存在争议。然而，俗话说得好，"萝卡白菜，各有所爱"，无论一个人喜欢哪种流派，重要的是他可以从该种音乐中获得满足感。

In general, music is composed and performed for many purposes: aesthetic(有关美的，审美的) pleasure, religious or ceremonial purposes, or just as an entertainment product for the marketplace.

通常，音乐的创作以及演奏会出于不同的目的，如审美享受、宗教或庆典的目的，或者仅仅作为一种大众的娱乐手段。
