精灵鼠小弟 第55期:鼠小弟购买衣物

While Dr. Carey was making repairs on the car, Stuart went shopping.

在凯里医生修理那辆小车时，斯图亚特到商店去了。

He decided that, since he was about to take a long motor trip, he should have the proper clothes.

因为他想，既然要做一次长途汽车旅行，就该买一些合适的衣服。

He went to a doll's shop, where they had things which were the right size for him,

他来到一家玩具店，那里有不少完全适合他的用品，

and outfitted himself completely, with new luggage, suits, shirts, and accessories.

包括新行李，外套，衬衫，还有其他的一些小东西。

He charged everything and was well pleased with his purchases.

他很高兴能把这些东西每一样都买下。

That night he slept at the Doctor's apartment.

那天晚上他睡在医生的公寓里。

The next morning, Stuart started early, to avoid traffic.

第二天，因为怕路上塞车，斯图亚特起得特别早。

He thought it would be a good idea to get out on the road before there were too many cars and trucks.

他想，在有太多的小车和大卡车开出来之前上路是个明智的选择。

He drove through Central Park to One Hundred and Tenth Street, then over to the West Side Highway, then north to the Saw Mill River Parkway.

他驾车开过中央公园，来到第110街，然后又开过西边的大路，顺着北边的河边锯木厂林荫道继续前行。

The car ran beautifully and although people were inclined to stare at him, Stuart didn't mind.

他的小车跑起来的样子很潇洒，引起了一些行人的注意，可斯图亚特根本就不在乎。

He was very careful not to press the button which had caused so much trouble the day before.

他一直很小心，不让自己再去摁昨天引起了那么多麻烦的那个按钮。

He made up his mind that he would never use that button again.

他决定再也不碰那个按钮了。
