玫瑰
There was once a poor woman who had two children.
从前有个贫穷的妇女，她有俩个孩子。
The youngest had to go into the forest every day tofetch wood.
小女儿天天要进森林去拾柴。
Once when she had gone a long way to find it,
有一回她走了好长一段路寻找柴火，
a little child,who was quite strong,
一个十分壮实的小男孩
came and helped her industriously to pick up the wood and carry it home,
过来相助，勤快地拾捡柴火。还帮她背回家。
and then before a moment had passed the strange child disappeared.
然后转眼工夫，这个陌生的小男孩突然消失了。
The child told her mother this,but at first she would not believe it.
小女孩把这一切告诉了妈妈，可是妈妈起先还不肯相信。
One day she brought a rose home,
后来她又带了一朵玫瑰回家，
and told her mother that the beautiful child had given it to her,
告诉妈妈这朵美丽的玫瑰是那位美少年送给她的，
and told her that when it was in full bloom,he would return.
还对她说，等到花儿盛开的时候，他就会回来。
The mother put the rose in water.
妈妈便把玫瑰养在水里。
One morning the child did not get out of bed.
一天早上小女儿没有起床。
The mother went to the bed and found her dead,but she looked very happy.
妈妈走到床边发现她已经死了，可是她躺在那里看上去很幸福。
On the same morning, the rose was in full bloom.
也就在这天早上，那朵玫瑰绽放了。
