国家航天局近日表示，计划启动天问二号星际探测任务，目标是一颗近地小行星。天问二号任务已正式获得国家批准立项，计划通过一次发射，实现从近地小行星2016HO3采样返回地球，之后前往主带彗星311P开展伴飞探测。
China plans to launch a new interplanetary mission targeting a small near-Earth asteroid, said the China National Space Administration. The scheduled Tianwen-2 mission will sample an asteroid called 2016 HO3, return to Earth, and then head out again to a main-belt comet 311P. The mission has obtained official approval.

天问一号探测器于2020年7月23日在海南文昌由长征五号运载火箭成功发射，2021年2月10日成功实施火星捕获，成为我国第一颗人造火星卫星，2月24日探测器进入火星停泊轨道，开展了为期约3个月的环绕探测，为顺利着陆火星奠定了基础。天问一号探测器成功着陆火星，是我国首次实现地外行星着陆，使我国成为第二个成功着陆火星的国家。
天问一号任务的成功，开启了我国深空探测的大幕，这一步走得稳健而坚定，也为后续的木星和小行星探测任务，打下了坚实的基础。
中国首次火星探测任务工程总设计师张荣桥在2022年4月接受采访时表示，经过两年多的研制，天问二号已经进入到初样的研制，现在电性产品已经在进行综合测试，后续我们按照既定的节奏往前推动，我们预期在2025年实施发射。天问二号是从小行星取样返回，天问三号是从火星取样返回，天问四号是去木星系，所以我们是叫行星探测工程。
