You know what you`re supposed to do when you`re driving and the light turns yellow, when a sign says yield, when you see an emergency responsible vehicle behind you. But what when there`s an obstacle on the inner state or if your car goes into a skid?

开车时，交通灯变成黄色，或者看到自己车后是救护车，你知道应该怎样做。但是，当车出现内部故障或者车在打滑的时候，你会怎么做呢?

To help teach people how to deal with that, a former race car driver named Jeff Payne founded a nonprofit defensive driving program called Driver`s Edge. He`s today`s "Character Study".

为了帮助人们怎样应对上述局面，前赛车手杰夫·佩恩成立了一个非营利的防御性驾驶培训计划——“司机的边缘”。他今天是“角色学习”的主角。

JEFF PAYNE, CNN HERO: All these kids are dying on our roadways. Families are affected every single day. None of us are really ever taught how to drive. We`re just taught to pass a test.

这些孩子都死于交通事故。每一天都会有家庭受到影响。我们都没有真正学习过如何去驾驶，而是仅仅学习了如何去通过一个考试。

Most drivers were never educated on what to do in that emergency situation. I was simply frustrated with the number of kids that are being killed and the number of little white cross that you see along the highway.

大多数司机都没有接受过紧急情况教育。交通事故导致死亡孩子的数量以及路上救护车的数量让我感到非常的沮丧。

So, I started a free program that would get young drivers behind the wheel and better prepare them for all the hazards that you face out there.

We actually put young drivers skid control exercises, panic braking exercises, the basic lane change movers. Experiences aren`t traditionally car driver`s education, but that could actually save your life one day out there on the roads.

实际上，我们让这些年轻的司机进行打滑控制练习、恐慌刹车练习、基本的变换车道。经验并不等同于传统的司机教育，但是在未来的某一天，你在道路上行驶时，经验会拯救你的生命。
