Europe is experiencing its worst drought in at least 500 years, with almost two-thirds of the continent in a state of alert or warning, a European Union agency said on Tuesday.
欧洲干旱观察站8月23日表示，欧洲正在经历至少500年来最为严重的旱情，欧洲大陆几乎有三分之二的地区处于警戒或警告状态。

In its August analytical report, the European Drought Observatory said some 47 percent of Europe is under warning conditions due to a severe lack of soil moisture.
该观察站8月发布的分析报告中指出，由于严重缺乏土壤水分，欧洲有大约47%的地区处于警告状态。

Another 17 percent of countries are in alert condition.
另有17%的地区处于更严重的警报状态。

The drought has disrupted inland shipping and electricity production and reduced the yields of certain crops.

Summer crops have suffered, with 2022 yields of maize set to be 16 percent below the average of the previous five years and soybean and sunflower yields set to decrease by 15 and 12 percent, respectively.
