Sam Bankman-Fried was sentenced to 25 years in prison by a judge on Monday for stealing $8 billion from customers of the cryptocurrency trading platform he founded, FTX, the final step in the former billionaire "wizard"'s dramatic fall from grace.

He had previously dismissed Mr Bankman-fried's claim that FTX customers had not actually lost money and determined that he had lied in his trial testimony. A jury found Bankman-Fried, 32, guilty on Nov. 2 of seven counts of fraud and conspiracy in connection with FTX's 2022 bankruptcy, which prosecutors described as one of the largest financial frauds in U.S. history.

Mr. Kaplan said Mr. Bankman-fried showed no remorse.
