Today, Finn and Yang Li explain the idioms roll one's eyes and cross one's fingers, which our listener Libby came across in the Twilight books.

Finn: No, I'm fine.
Yang Li: 当你说一个人声音嘶哑的时候就可以用 a frog in their throat.这是一个成语 Let's hear the question for today.

Finn: There are indeed, and we're going to learn a few today. In fact, I'm going to use a body idiom in every sentence.
Yang Li: (whispers) I don't think Finn can do it…
Finn: Li, are you talking behind my back?
Yang Li: No, no. Finn 说我在背后讲他的坏话 his back… Of course not!
Finn: You don't think I can do it? Well, why are you rolling your eyes at me, Li?!

Yang Li: I'm not rolling my eyes, I'm just… Oh ok then! Let's see if you can do it. Rolling your eyes 转眼珠，表示不相信对方的话。
Finn: Ok then I believe you, Li. Are you ready?
Li: Yes!
Finn: Good, let's get our teeth into it.
Yang Li: Let's get our teeth into it. 就是让我们全力投入，开始吧。 So, what shall we talk about first?
Finn: Erm. I'm not sure… How about… Boo!
Yang Li: Don't do that again!
Finn: Li, you jumped out of your skin!
Yang Li: Finn, come on. Don't do that again! I can't believe you did that! To jump out of your skin 意思是被吓了一跳，差点晕过去。 Don't do that again!
Finn: Ok, ok, Li, no need to jump down my throat!
Yang Li: Ok, ok. Just don't do it again. To jump down someone's throat 意思是非常恼怒对某人大发雷霆. It's ok Finn – I'm just pulling your leg!
Finn: Ha! Ok. If you are pulling someone's leg, it means you are joking with them. Good. Well, cross my fingers you don't get angry again!
Yang Li: Ah – here it is – cross your fingers. 人们用 cross my fingers 交插手指来表示祈祷，心想事成.
Finn: That's right. Cross my fingers that it doesn't snow tonight!
Yang Li: Well, we're almost at the end of the show. We've managed a lot of body idioms already.
Finn: Yes, we're up to our eyeballs in them today!
Yang Li: Very good, Finn. When you are up to your eyeballs in something 意思是多得有些吃不消了. So, how about one last body idiom, Finn?
Finn: One last one. Ok. Li, I can't think of any. I'm tongue-tied.
Yang Li: Tongue-tied, 语塞？ 什么？能说会道的 Finn怎么会语塞呢tongue-tied？ 这很反常。 Don't worry Finn, we've covered a lot today already. Or should I say, we've put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into today's programme!
Finn: Ok Li, well done! Very good. To put blood, sweat and tears into something means you put a lot of effort into it. A bit like 花了很多心血 in Chinese. Except in English, apart from blood 心血, we also include sweat 汗水and tears 泪水. Interesting.
Yang Li: A bit smelly.
Finn: Smelly. 3
