1. make one's blood boil ** 使某人非常生气，使某人愤怒

解〈口〉习语；词义溯源：使得某人［热血沸腾（blood boil）］

例 Listen to this mail from the company president, “Due to the bad economic situation of the country, we will not raise salaries and wages this year. ” Boy, doesn't that have a familiar ring to it? It's the same excuse he used last year to avoid giving us a raise!And this company has made a 15% gain in profits both years. Damn, it makes my blood boil!

2. make one's blood run cold ** 使不寒而栗，使极度害怕

解习语；词义溯源：使得某人的［血液变冷或有变化（blood run cold）］

例 Even the mention of their father, who had a penchant for beating them with bamboo sticks, makes the children's blood run cold. The youngest one, a six-year-old boy, has nightmares every night. We have them all under therapy, but emotional scars are so deep, it will take years for them to heal.

3. make one's hair stand on end ** 使人毛骨悚然

5. make sb. the scapegoat / make sb. the scapegoat for sth. ** 成为牺牲品

例 I know the public wants somebody to blame for the tragedy, but I refuse to make the engineer the scapegoat for it. It goes against my grain and I won't do it. I'll take responsibility for the accident myself if I have to.
