for sb.常用于表示事物的特征特点,表示客观形式的形容词,如easy,hard,difficult,interesting,impossible等:

of sb.的句型一般用表示人物的性格,品德,表示主观感情或态度的形容词,如good,kind,nice,clever,foolish,right。

It's very nice of you to help me.

你来帮助我,你真是太好了。

agenda议事日程

agenda原为拉丁语agendum 'thing to be done'(待办之事)的复数形式,但在现代英语中agenda通常被视为单数而以agendas作为其复数形式,用来表示“议事日程”或“待办事项表”。据说,这是由于英国哲学家和法学家边沁(Jeremy Bentham,1748-1832)的率先使用,才使agenda的这一用法得以广泛流行。

与agenda情况多少有些类似的是addenda(补遗)一词。该词原系拉丁文借用词addendum之复数形式,但现在一般也用作复数。

当准备展会的时候你会说

anxious about与anxious for的用法:

anxious about为……担心

I am anxious for a new environment.

client,customer,shopper,patron和guest都有客人的意思,但它们之间却有细微的差别。

client n. a person who pays a professional person or organization for help and advice委托人,当事人,顾客。当你接受律师等职业人士的付费服务时,你就是client。The lawyer is serving a client.律师正在接待顾客。

customer n. someone who buys goods o services from a shop or business regularly顾客,customer通常指购买东西或服务的人。Most of our customers like our new product.我们的绝大多数顾客都喜欢我们的新产品。

shopper n. a person who is shopping到商店买东西的人,当你出去购物时,你就变成shopper了。The Silk Street is full of shoppers.秀水街挤满了购物者。

patron n. a person who uses a particular shop or hotel, especially regularly老顾客,老主顾。为正式用词。He was a patron for many of the renowned dancers of his times.当时的许多著名舞蹈家都得到过他的赞助。

guest n. a person who is in someone's home by invitation to stay for a short time or for a meal客人,宾客,guest通常指住旅馆的旅客。I'll phone you when our guests have left.我们的客人离开后,我就打电话给你。
