当卖方被告知错发了货物之后,应在第一时间向买方表示歉意,并想办法及时通过协商解决问题。首先,可询问对方是否能接受错发的货物;如果对方不能接受错发的货物,可请求对方通过降价等方式代自己将商品在对方市场进行处理,并马上安排对买方所需商品的发货工作;如果买方不能代为销售,可要求对方将商品发回并将对方所需商品及时发送给对方。

A:How to deal with it in your mind?

我们真的是遇到麻烦的状况了,才会出错。

That's an understandable, but regrettable mistake.

这种错误可以理解,但也很遗憾。

Since it's our error, we'll pay the freight charges.

因为错误是我们造成的,我们会负担空运运费。

be in hot water遇到麻烦

该习语的字面意思是“在热水中”。可以想象描述对象身处的环境一定很恶劣,肯定是遇到了麻烦,所以后来该习语就被用来表示“遇到了麻烦”之意。例如:I am in the hot water now, I lose some important documents.我遇到麻烦了,我弄丢了很多十分重要的文件。

“遇到麻烦”的其他表达方式还有:

get into trouble陷入困境,遇到麻烦

He got into trouble now; I should go to help him.

他遇到麻烦了,我得去帮他。

get into a mess遇到麻烦

He won't ask you for help even he got into a mess.

即使他遇到麻烦也不会找你帮忙。

场景应用

由于使用的是过去的旧目录,所以客户选错了商品型号,但是卖方表示了理解并决定给对方送去正确的商品。

A:We received a wrong delivery of 5 wardrobes from you yesterday. We ordered the pine-finished wardrobes, but got a consignment of 5 mahogany-finished ones.

B:I'm sorry for that. What's your order number?

A:No.107. We ordered from your summer catalogue, Cat No.336.

B:That's it. You have ordered from an out-of-date catalogue. The new one lists the wardrobes you wanted under 705.

A:Oh, I'm sorry.

B:That's all right. It's history. I'll instruct a person to deliver the pine-finished wardrobes tomorrow and pick up the other consignment at the same time.

A:Thank you very much.

A:昨天我们收到你们送来的5个衣柜,你们送错货了。我们订的是5个松木面的,但送来的是红木的。

B:发生这事我很抱歉。你的订单号是多少?

It's history.都已经过去了。

和别人造成误会时我们肯定要解释一下,对方可能说“都已经过去了”,言下之意是他已经原谅你了。说成Everything has passed.的话就好闹笑话了,这样的中式英语老外当然听不懂了,正确的说法应该是It's history.

History是“历史”的意思,成为了历史当然就是过去的事了,也就不用提了。我们在提到某个人的“生平”时,可以说life history。

因为信息输入错误,卖方发送了错误的商品型号。核对信息后,卖方决定马上发送正确的商品,并请对方帮忙将错误的商品寄回来。

A:We have a problem, sir.

B:What on earth has happened?

A:You remember that we ordered 20 of your TP166 laser jet printers?

B:Of course. We shipped them two weeks ago. Haven't they arrived?

A:That's the problem. They've arrived, but they're the wrong model. You sent the TP164 model. That model is incompatible with our computer system.

B:I'm sorry to hear that. I'll look into it and try to get it corrected for you as quickly as possible. Do you have the invoice number?

A:I have a fax of the invoice right here.

B:Yes, there certainly seems to be a mistake. For some reason we shipped the wrong model. Would you mind waiting a few minutes while I check with our shipping department?

A:Not at all. I'm anxious to get this straightened out.(Later…)

B:Well, I've discovered the source of the error. It seems your customer account number was incorrectly entered into our computer at the warehouse. This resulted in the wrong shipment.

A:That's an understandable, but regrettable mistake.

B:We'll airfreight the correct printers immediately for all the tea in China. And since it's our error, we'll pay the freight charges.

A:That's good of you. My home office will be glad to hear it.

B:I'm very pleased we were able to get to the bottom of this so quickly. Just return the wrong printers sea-freight, and our company will pick up those charges too.

A:Thank you so much.

B:That's all right. We hope to provide you with good service for many years to come.

for all the tea in China无论如何,无论怎么(也不)

这条习语来自17世纪的英国。当时中国生产的茶叶在英国价格昂贵,如果是“中国的全部茶叶”(all the tea in China),价值就无法估量了。不过,这条习语多用于否定句,意思是“即使把中国的全部茶叶送给我(我也不做某事)”,比喻“无论如何,无论多高的报酬(也不)”的意思。比如:That man was so rude to me! I wouldn't go back to that job for all the tea in China.(那个人对我如此无礼,我无论如何也不会回去干那个工作了。)
