当买方提出短重投诉时，卖方应注意，要正确使用计量单位。国际贸易中，现行的度量衡制度有公制、国际制、英制和美制。在这些度量衡制度并行过程中，要注意计量单位的正确使用。
如遇买方进行数量索赔时，如属短交，卖方应看其是否在合同规定的溢短装范围之内，如在其范围之内，不属违约，只找差价就行了。同时买方也应注意，卖方如短交在15％以内，可要求卖方补交，或从货款中扣除相应的部分。
