夏洛特小公主将保留皇位继承权顺位

For most older siblings, the arrival of a new little boyor girl in the family is a moment of sadness as itmeans they'll no longer be the centre of attention.

But Princess Charlotte certainly won't mind when thenext Royal sibling comes along later this month as itmeans she'll be making history.

Thanks to the Succession to the Crown Act of 2013, the two-year-old will be the first female royal to retain her position in the succession of thethrone, regardless of her new sibling's gender.

幸好有《皇位继承法案2013》，不管新生儿是男是女，两岁的夏洛特将成为第一个能保留皇位继承顺序的女孩。

Prior to the act a younger brother would overtake a female sibling in the line of succession.

此前，如果新生儿是男孩，他就有权僭越姐姐继承皇位。

The act says: 'Succession to the Crown not to depend on gender: In determining the successionto the Crown, the gender of a person born after 28 October 2011 does not give that person, orthat person’s descendants, precedence over any other person (whenever born).'

法案中说：“皇位继承不再取决于性别，2011年10月28日之后的新生王室成员，无论男女，无权优先于任何王室成员继承皇位。”

The same act also meant that members of the Royal family who marry a Catholic will no longerbe disqualified.
